Prepare! The winter is coming!

tonight is Tool Time; and tomorrow is Boston Bikes Network open house at the BPL

Come one, Come All!

Tonight, as with every Tuesday, is Commonwheels’ open shop tool time.  6-9pm, stop by, say “hi”, tweak your spokes and straighten your ride, “Smahten Up” with a free rear light courtesy of BU Bike Safety Committee, whatever helps.  We’ll be there, fixing up some of our basement bikes.  (anyone need a somewhat shoddy ladies mountain bike?  yeah, enticing, I know.  they make good tall bike components…)

And Tomorrow, Wedsneday November 16, is Boston Bikes’ 2nd Bike Network Open House, 5:30-8:30pm.  At the Boston Public Library in Copley Square, lower level McKim Building Room A.   Come voice your bike-pinions!  They want/need your input!

from the BCU: “For months Toole Design Group and the City of Boston’s Boston Bikes Program have been working on a plan to phase in bike lanes, cycletracks and other bikeways all over the city. The Boston Cyclists Union and other bike advocates have been informing this effort and pressing for stronger connections to the neighborhoods that have traditionally been cut off from the rest of the city by dangerous streets and other obstacles.”

Hope to see some riders tonight and plenty of bikers tomorrow,

bike purge today! and open shop tool time in the evening

CWers,

It’s been a while, we know, but we’ve been allowing some freeloading bums to squat in our basement, just doin’ nobody no good, hanging out and collecting dust, generally cluttering the co-op’s precious space.  Time to give em some air.  Today we’re going to do what is known as “the bike purge” — to get a good scope of what we’ve got in the dank basement.  At first guess it’s likely 30 frames kicking around down there, and all sorts of assorted wheels and cranks and handlebars and seats and stems and pedals and… WHEW, well, if you’re interested in finding out for yourself, come over anytime today after noon, let’s say… until 7pm.  The rain is of no concern for us, we’ll be trudging through, it needs to be done.  Bonus: If you find a frame or a wheel or whatever you like, chances are you’re able ride home with it today.

And we’ll pull out the stands and tools for anyone who wants to do a bit of Tool Time.

Join us, help us, free us from clutter.

Sincerely,

Commomnwheels

Damn that's a lot of bikes!

Tuesday Tools tonight 6-9pm, and continuing on Thursday

Commonwheelers!

The weather is amazing; perfect for biking around, going leaf watching, and working on your bike in our unheated little co-op space!  We’re inviting you by tonight to come give yourself some tuning up.  From 6-9pm we’ll have our doors open, so ride over at some point in your travels.  As always, we’ll have good company, decent beers, and poor lighting.

And we’re going to have another Open Shop day this week, trying out Thursday, so keep your specs on and your ears open for more info coming…

Ride easy out there today, enjoy the last of the warmth before we have to switch to our winter bikes.
